With increased talk of needing to future proof our homes and predications that by 2031, 144,000 New Zealanders will be over the age of 85 - thats double what it is now! There is a trend developing for showers to be level entry.
When renovating or building and planning your bathroom design, think about the heights and sizes of vanities and showers.
As the human body ages its flexibility and strength diminishes which means we need more room to move and better heights to perform tasks.
By choosing a toilet that has a pan height of 400mm or higher will make life easier. As will having vanity tops 850mm or higher from the floor. And a shower that has no step or a minimal step will also be appreciated.
Who can predict the future and know with all certainty where you will be living when you are 65 or who will be the next person to buy your home?
