How to make a room feel bigger

How to make a room feel bigger

If you want to make a space feel bigger than it is, then the following elements of colour and texture will help you achieve that goal

Choose colours that reflect lots of light - use the LRV indicators on paint charts and aim to be in the range of 80 - 100

Select surfaces that have high gloss levels - this will enable light to bounce around the room

Repeat the same shapes, finishes, colours of objects in the room.

Choose patterns that are small in scale

Furniture with tall legs or wall hung will be best - the more of the floor you can see the bigger the room will feel

Use cool colours - white seems to be the most popular

Avoid any strong contrast of colour or strong contrast of theme
